Grid tie inverters (or GTIs) are a special kind of DC to AC power converter that is used primarily for renewable energy applications. These inverters are used to supply power to the utility grid, which can then be sold back to the electric company. If a GTI system supplies 500 kilowatts to the utility grid during a month, and 100 of those hours are used, the GTI system would be compensated for the 400 additional hours. This system of net metering policies will vary depending on where you live and what jurisdictions you are in.

There are many grid tie inverters available today. Each uses different technology. They may be using the most recent high frequency transformers or more traditional low frequency transformers. Maximum input current The maximum amount of direct current the device can use.
The start voltage value is not always listed in data sheets. This value tells you how low the DC voltage is required to get the device to turn ON and start working.
The NEMA rating indicates how protected the device is against water.
